Barbaric Ben's Den has been created! Not sure how I'll celebrate, but I'm definitely excited.

BBD's blog will have everyday life happenings and my hopefully humble insights about them. BBD's will also have some reports and essays for variety and fun. I hope you end up enjoying what I write, and maybe it will help someone too. :)

Hello, My Friend

Short piece I wrote tonight, from the perspective of someone questioning who is really their friend, and who is simply an acquaintance. Meant to hopefully feel relevant for many people. Hello, my friend. Let's skip talking about work, school, the weather, or how we are doing, you know that question is never answered truthfully anyway. Instead, let's talk, for real. Let's talk about the silly little things that make us happy, about the infinitesimally pathetic things that irk us, about the oddest things that get our hopes up, about our dreams that we don't think will happen that we still think about. I Didn't Wear Shoes Today

I didn't wear shoes today. I'm pretty sure that whoever first thought of carpet, was standing in a patch of grass with no shoes on. Then the thought struck, "Wow, this feels really soft and squashy. Wouldn't it be neat to have this in my house?" After an unsuccessful trial period of growing grass on the parlor floor, they decide to replicate it with man-made materials. Boom- carpet is patented and sold. Or maybe somebody loved their pet named car so much that they wanted their floor covered in furry stuff and called it car + pet. Hm. Nah, I don't believe that either. Anyway. I didn't wear shoes today. I slipped off the flip-flops (tongue twister!) and padded through our backyard, and it was a delight .
