Happy Birthday. You Are Unique, But....

Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you,
happy birthday dear whomever, happy birthday to you!

Even if it is infrequently, everyone needs to know that they matter. That they're special.
Like the other song, "whomever you are so special, there is no-one else like you, God has made you special, there is no-one else like you."

I love it. God makes us special. He makes me feel special. I don't know how someone could show me I'm special to them in a way more powerful than dying for me. Not only that, and not to diminish that, but God also works on us our entire life, molding our specialism into our unique purpose.

There's similar people, twins, triplets or whatever People with the same name, last name, middle name, hair or skin color, and on and on. No matter how similar two people are though, especially at first sight and impression, there's a load of subtleties even in looks, and that's only the directly visible differences. Individual personality and characteristics vary wildly, and beneath layers lies the soul that is distinctly unique person to person.

I'd like to introduce an idea here. Not really scientifically correct maybe, but it will work for a hopefully-you're-finding-it-humble post.

Everyone is unique, different, individual. But God makes us special. He takes away what we cannot, and our entire life changes, literally. Purpose, mysterious peace, a change of heart that lasts, sorrow of things we didn't used to be sorry for, and a very real new hope.

We become special because of what we now have. Some things completely unattainable for anyone else. We have a comforter, a counselor, the Holy Spirit with us constantly, and we have eternal life. We have a heavenly inheritance, and a God more powerful and awesome than anything imaginable.

Happy Birthday. Guess what? God has a gift for you.

And you know what? That gift is always available, He's waiting for you to accept it. He really loves you, so much that he'll wait a long time for you to come around and open it. He won't miss you opening it. He'll even help you. You may feel old enough to do it yourself, but He'll still help.

Will you accept this gift?

You are unique. But..... are you special?
