High Resolution

Does the idea of making New Years resolutions sound a little old by now?

Ya man.

I'm far to late to jump on the New Years train of "Get in shape now! Yeah! Strong resolutions make a strong you! What will you do this new year? 10 tips for a better year! 100 tips for a better year! New years resolutions for Dummies! How-to and do-it-yourself resolution textbook! NEW NEW NEW! Yeah! Make life better for YOU! We love you! We want to know what you're doing all the time! The world revolves around you, and your resolutions count! And what we really mean is we'll do anything to improve our relationship with you to get your green!"

Ah....yeah. Pardon me, I got a little carried away. :)

So I wandered around brainstorming ideas for a post on resolutions, and remembered an ad I'd seen earlier. You know it's a good commercial ad when it catches your eye and you remember it. Anyway, it was an electronics ad, running along the lines of, "Our New Years resolutions come in 1024 x 1580, so you can see it all!" Or some such. The point is, it was interesting how they took our language, and simply used the other meaning of the word resolution, to make a connection between their product, and what was on everybody's mind at the time. It works.

After a while this idea sprang up. When we are first Christians, we haven't read our Bible or prayed very much. When we look at the world, we're seeing it in 480 x 640 resolution. (I know, I'm young, that's the lowest resolution I know of) Satan knows this, and uses our lack of knowledge to trick us, because we're not seeing everything yet. What looks like a fuzzy little ball, turns into a bomb which blows up in our face.

As we read the Bible though, and converse with God, our minds are transformed. We can see the world correctly, more clearly, and we can tell more easily what we're here to do. (romans 12:2)
Our resolution of the world climbs higher, 800 x 1024, and Satan strives to keep us from reading and praying. We go through trials, and when we persevere, God blesses us with wisdom we never knew we'd ever have. Resolution, 1240 x 1680. Satan never gives up, and now, even now, there are so many places he simply hides, and lies in wait for us. He works a little at a time, here, there. Small things we don't catch, or simply ignore, wise as we may be. He plans for the big time bash, or wears away as best he can.

With God on our side, and a healthy revelation, knowledge and acceptance of that fact, we will win in the end.
Here's a quote from, ah, someone. "We will never have to bad of a day, that we are out of the reach of God's grace, and we will never have so good of a day that we are not in need, of His grace."

I don't know about you, but I'm aiming for a high resolution.
Something like, oh....7860 x 8740. For starters. :)
