EDIM 31 - The Spirit Of Adventure

Hook - Remembering Childhood (background music? Yes indeed!)

I knew, last night, as soon as Casey called me and said camp started that night at eight pm instead of today, that camp had officially started. It is a crazy ride from beginning to end, and now it's here. I leave to join counselor training as soon as I pack and finish this entry. Consequently, despite 4 months between the last post and then this crazy Every Day In May deal, June will be conspicuously quiet. In all likelihood I'll not be posting again until mid-July.

This year's theme is "The Spirit Of Adventure". Campers are divided into two teams, (though not extremely competitive based) the sailors and the aviators. Of course explaining everything here would probably be boring and take way more time than I have available, so I'll just skip the whole deal.

I think I can safely say this month will be an adventure -as life with Christ always is- and leave it at that. I'm out of words. For now. So until July, goodbye, and never stop living for Christ or allowing his refining work to be done in your life. It is truly the best.
 
2 Timothy 1:7-10, "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. So do not be ashamed to testify about out Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life -not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. Familiarity Breeds

There's one fact swirling along the periphery of my brain today. The close proximity and familiarity by repetition of co-workers resulting in care for people I don't care for. There's only so many people that one can emotionally connect and intentionally build relationships with, and the cold fact is that time has a lot to do with friendship, because time is valuable. Spend time leveling in an rpg (thank goodness those days are over) and try not caring about losing days of progress. And so on and so forth with additional analogies. Jesus does say to love and pray for enemies, but also had only twelve "close" followers, or friends. My old lost and dead flesh dislikes people, but Christ within loves. So it happens that I end up caring for people I don't care for. At the same time, we are the salt of the world. The Fruit Of The Spirit

This passage has always encouraged me. I hope you find some encouragement and peace from it. Galatians 5:22-26 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other." Against such things there is no law. Really? Think about it. If everyone had these gifts in abundance, we wouldn't hardly need law at all. There definitely isn't any laws against them. Continuing on to the second part, the opposites to these gifts are easily named under "passions and desires". Only with Christ can we put these away and behind us. Still Muddling Through

It's been some time- inside of which I've aged. In ten years- or less- I'll be able to read this bit and chuckle and say, 'I've aged". Yet it really doesn't matter that my immaturity still exists, it's comforting to simply make progress. No one just clicks and becomes perfect and ceases to grow in wisdom for the rest of life. That 'click' point merits its own article. At seven I thought it would be ten, at ten I thought it would be fifteen, at fifteen I thought it would be eventually... but of course with so much wisdom now at least I no longer guess any more ages. Ha. Blogging is a pretty good way to exercise writing, even if it does require consciously telling the grammar police and editing moguls in my head to shut up occasionally. Can't get a straight sentence out otherwise. And I declare- says the least disciplined youngest of five- 'writing shall be in my life, whether I like it or not!' An astounding argument of logic.
