EDIM 6 - Consideration/Tolerance

Just a quickie today, as I was thinking on the schism between Secular Humanity and Christianity, the loud cries to tolerance equal to that of the constant reminder of racism. Honestly, those groups most prone to loudly proclaiming that everyone should be tolerant are usually those that harbor something within not previously tolerated. Hipsters, bronies, gays... a list I don't even know.

That said, it's true that religion oft gives a terrible impression of Christianity to the masses, but personally knowing many true followers of Jesus shows me the ones who live the real deal are the only people I know who practice real deal tolerance. A lot of more faint-hearted good intentions based Christians put too much stock in being considerate of others around them. The problem with that is that it's far to easy to become comfortable with being so considerate of others' worldviews. There's a line much farther forward than many of us set where we cannot afford to be less tolerant at risk of becoming entirely complacent and ineffective.

Secular Humanity continues to claim tolerance, but only gets away with being intolerant under guise of tolerance by the volunteer meekness granted only by the knowledge that we are nothing, given through acceptance of Christs sacrifice and kingship for and over us. Examples of secular intolerance: swearing, obama's cancellation of the day of prayer (fat chance of me following that stupidity), hostility towards faith in academic settlements, restriction of speech in work environments (somewhat understandable but still a valid point), and literally in general everywhere. Stuff like trying to remove faith from capitol buildings, where interestingly, bible verses are stamped literally everywhere. Or telling people to take down nativity signs in their own yard. Come on. Isn't the hypocrisy plainly evident in something like that?

I wouldn't feel so strongly about the subject if I didn't know myself that I chose to become entirely to complacent. If the world doesn't realize you are Christian, there's two options to pick from: either they're deaf and blind, or we've become to tolerant of them. There's a difference between demanding prayer at some public association -graduation perhaps- and having the freedom to do so.

I refuse to be steamrolled by the hypocritical intolerance of secular humanity claiming my intolerance. Yes, I can and will continue to be considerate of others' beliefs; I've no need to confront and directly disclaim them. No, I cannot stand back and idly allow lost peoples own willful self-destruction. Christ calls us to more than that. Being considerate of others involves more than letting them do whatever they want, it includes warning of future danger, something I believe is very true for everyone not resting safely in the arms of Christ.

Philippians 2:3-11
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
